The strategic planning of the Central Bank of Brazil (Banco Central do Brasil) serves to govern the institution's actions and takes into account identified challenges, changes in the Bank's external and internal environment and guidelines issued by its senior management. The strategic planning is periodically revised and has as its starting point the definition of the strategic guidelines, demanding from the institution's executives a collective effort of reflection.

The strategic guidelines approved by the Board of the Banco Central do Brasil include the Bank's institutional mission, vision of future, organizational values and strategic aims. The strategic guidelines orientate the conduction of the institution's macro processes, the definition of the projects that will ensure the feasibility of the intended strategy, the establishment of priorities in the use of available resources and, in addition, promote improvements in management practices and induce the necessary changes in organizational culture.
